While some patients choose to live at home during outpatient rehab programs, others benefit from a living situation with more structure and support. In everyday life, you’ll encounter stress and other triggers that could tempt you to relapse. Until you have the healthy coping skills you need, at Midwest Recovery you have the option of living in a community housing program with other recovery-focused peers. Group therapy is a key part of addiction treatment. In a community housing program, you’ll have the support of group therapy around the clock. You’ll grow alongside others and set yourself up for long-term success.
What Is a Community Housing Program?
Community housing is also referred to as “sober living” or “recovery housing.” In these addiction treatment programs, individuals in recovery live with other sober, recovery-focused peers while in an addiction treatment program. For those who have transitioned out of residential treatment but are not quite ready for the independence that comes with living at home, a community housing program can bridge the gap. Research shows that these living situations can help prevent relapse and provide stability during the difficult stages of early recovery.
While in early recovery, some people need more accountability and support than others. Community housing programs exist for this reason. While individuals in our care at Midwest Recovery go through an outpatient treatment program, they’ll be supported by other residents in reaching their goals. They can also continue with work or school while living in community housing. And since all other residents are also in recovery, they are able to provide the encouragement you need to get through the difficult days of recovery. You’ll also begin to learn how to have fun without relying on drugs or alcohol.
In an addiction treatment program, you’ll engage in group therapy several times a week. And in our community housing program, you’ll find the same kind of support 24/7.
Midwest Recovery Center’s Toledo Community Housing Program
The goal of our addiction treatment programs is to help our patients find lasting, meaningful sobriety. We understand that substance abuse causes damage to our patients’ lives and that they may need help getting back on their feet. Therefore, we include life skills in our outpatient addiction treatment program. Our addiction specialists provide help with grocery shopping, cooking healthy meals, and nutrition education.
We also know how important a strong support system is for lasting recovery. So in our community housing program, you’ll form bonds with others who have the same goals. These individuals could become lifelong friends and people you can turn to for help.
In Midwest Recovery’s community housing program, you’ll find the following amenities:
- Transportation to our addiction treatment center for meetings and therapy sessions
- Newly renovated and fully furnished apartments
- Beautiful tile bathrooms
- Hardwood flooring
